Baldwinsville, NY -- The Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce and local businesses are gearing up for Baldwinsville’s Big Chill.

Tony Saraceni, vice president of the chamber, said the event is a way for the community to celebrate the season and give to charity.

The third annual event will kick off with a wine tasting and casino night at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at The Red Mill Inn. Vino Casino will feature eight wines from around the world and casino games. Patrons will gamble for raffle tickets, and prizes will be drawn every 15 minutes. There also will be three grand-prize drawings at the end of the night. Tickets to the event are $25.The festivities will continue at 9 a.m. on Jan. 30 with the Big Chill Country Breakfast at the Presbyterian Church on Oswego Street. Tickets are $7, $5 for seniors and $4 for children.

The Polar Bear Plunge into the Seneca River at Mercer Park will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Plunge forms are available on the chamber’s Web site. Individuals must raise a minimum of $100 and corporate teams a minimum of $500 to participate.

Other festivities include a Best in Bowl competition from 1 to 4 p.m. and a snowman/sculpture contest from 1 to 2 p.m.

The night will end with Poker Bear Express from 5 to 9 p.m. Contestants purchase a poker card for $10 and make their way to Lake Effect, Edgewater, Pizza Man, Mohegan Manor, Badlands and Fireside Inn to try obtaining the best poker hand. The winner will receive 50 percent of the profits from the competition. Tickets will be for sale at all locations.

Proceeds from the two-day event will benefit Ronald McDonald House Local Charities of CNY, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of CNY and the Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce, the sponsor of the event.
