The Northeast Regional of the American Carp Society Tournament
wrapped up Saturday with a final weigh in and awards ceremony.
The team of Frederic Labrousse and Numa Marengo from France took home the top
prize with more than 3,000 pounds of carp reeled in.
The four-day competition took place on the Seneca River from the mouth of Onondaga Lake all the way to the mouth of Cross Lake. Thirty-five teams of two competed for more than $15,000 in cash and prizes.
Though carp fishing is new to many American anglers, it has been a popular sport in Europe for years.
Organizers say they were so pleased with this year's event, they will be back next year to do it again.
