B’ville to host carp tourney Seneca River to lure 100-plus carp fishers to compete

Baldwinsville Messenger,
Volume 82, No. 29

Dear Editor:

This past week, we visited the community of Baldwinsville to scout the beautiful Seneca River for the first of five regional carp tournaments to be held across the United States in 2007-8.  The hospitality extended to us during our three days in Baldwinsville was first-class, and we are thankful of the graciousness you afforded us.

Village of Baldwinsville Trustee Tony Saraceni shows off his 20-plus pound common carp that he reeled in just below the Seneca River dam at The Red Mill Inn last week.

We are pleased to accept the invitation of the Baldwinsville community to host the American Carp Society's northeast U.S. Regional tournament along the banks of the Seneca River in 2007.  The river is not only scenic, but prolific with healthy and strong fighting common carp.  We're most confident that our anglers will enjoy competing in B'ville.

Thank you to Jason Bernhardt, Jay Bernhardt and Jeffrey Scharoun of JGB Enterprises and Jake McKenna of Parsons-McKenna for all of the ground work and your efforts exploring the many options for a partnership with our organization.  To Becky Beardsley, Steve Einbinder and the most accommodating staff at The Red Mill Inn – our sincerest thank you.

Mayor Dan O'Hara, Trustees Tony Saraceni and Joe Saraceni and the Village of Baldwinsville – we thank you for your support and some exciting catches bankside.  Liz McCarthy-Bowers and the Greater Baldwinsville Economic Development Agency – thank you for your kindnesses and hospitality.  Valerie Getman and Charlie Farrell of the Greater Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce – thank you.

Thank you for those who came to The Red Mill Inn for a luncheon hosted by Jay Bernhardt – your interest and participation was superb.

The generous assistance of The Red Mill Inn, Cooper's Marina and Baker Photography were most appreciated, and we thank you.

A special thank you to Mike McGrath, a Syracuse-based carp angling guide who helped us throughout our stay.

To Enterprise Rent-A-Car and the NYS Division of Tourism's I Love New York , we're delighted to be back in New York State and look forward to another partnership in 2007.  Thank you for your past sponsorship of the American Carp Society.

To all the people and businesses in Baldwinsville – our sincerest thank you for embracing catch and release angling and making your community “fishing friendly” to anglers of all ages.  We salute you and look forward to our next visit this fall.
