It leaves most people in Baldwinsville
excited, the project to turn the old, dilapidated
Paper Mill into a 32 room inn. Over the last
month, the building has been hit with rain and
then, this week, wind, high wind running unabated
down the Seneca River.
"We had a couple of small walls that got knocked
down by the wind, but it was insignificant. An
hours worth of work to stand them back up and
continue on," said Jake McKenna with Parsons-McKenna
Construction.
McKenna says the recent weather with all the
wind and rain has slowed down construction a
little bit, but he says it can all be made up
over the winter.
"We're currently enclosing the building, hope
to have hit totally enclosed within the next
couple of weeks then we'll concentrate on the
interior finishes," he said.
Interior finishes that should bring the mill
back to its past charm.
"We've done a lot of historical exploration
and research in order to come up with what the
building ought to look like to make it historically
correct from 1800's," McKenna said.
When will you get a chance to see the result
of all this work or perhaps sleep in it? Well,
if weather and luck permits, perhaps this spring.
McKenna says he'll be talking with various community
and business groups soon to give them a complete
update on the project.
